FAMILY HISTORY: SWARBRICK

THE FAMILY OF ROBERT & ANNIE SWARBRICK

CENSUS INFORMATION:

By the time of the 1881 Census Robert Swarbrick had lost both of his parents and was living with his father's brother while serving his apprenticeship as a boot & shoe maker:

By 1891 Robert, like his brother Jonathan, had given up his work as a boot & shoe maker. Like his brother William, he moved to the village of Anderton, near Chorley, and was living as a boarder with George and Mary Smith, the parents of William's wife Margaret Alice:

Robert married George and Mary Smith's daughter Annie Smith in 1892 in Anderton and moved to the village of Walton-le-Dale, where they lived for the rest of their lives:

Although working at various professions over the years, I would guess that Robert kept his hand in the art of boot & shoemaking, and by 1911 he seems to have taken it up again full-time:

Annie Swarbrick died in 1933, aged 77 years and Robert died in 1937, aged 76 years.
