Who, Me?

My name is Glenn Swarbrick. I was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1955 - the third of eight children born to Robert Charles and Joan Lorraine Swarbrick.

In September 1960, when I was 5 years old, my family moved to Detroit, Michigan, then to Anaheim, California in June 1969.

In 1987 I returned to my native Toronto where I quickly acquired a backpack, passport, and plane ticket, before spending 5 months roaming around the United Kingdom.

It was on that trip that I began to look into my grandfather's past - spending a lot of time and money on what I like to refer to as The Road to Nowhere.

I made a second, shorter but more successful, trip to England in 1990 and finally decided to settle in Preston, Lancashire, where I have been living since 1992.

1992 was a momentous year for me. Between June and December of that year I settled permanently in England, met my first "long lost" cousin Stephen Swarbrick, found work, and met the girl that was to become my wife.

In April 1997 I married Patricia, a Preston Lass, and became "Dad" to her two beautiful little girls, Liz & Rachel.

In addition to Family History research, I have spent the last fourteen years renovating our late Victorian terrace. I hope to finish it in time to start all over again.
