THE FAMILY OF HENRY & RHODA SWARBRICK

Thomas Walmsley Swarbrick married Kathleen Bridget Shannon in 1935 and they had four children: Peter, Anthony and twins Terry and Patricia.

Thomas died on 20 February 1983, aged 70 years, and Kathleen died in November 1997, age 88 years.

DEATH NOTICE:

"SWARBRICK - On Sunday, 20th February 1983, in hospital, Thomas Walmsley Swarbrick, aged 70 years, of
15 Skiddaw Road, Lancaster. The dearly loved husband of Kitty, the dear father of Peter, Tony, Terry and Pat. Father-in-law of Pat, June, Eunice and Roy and a much loved grandad. The funeral service will take place at the Lancaster and Morecambe Crematorium on Thursday 25th February at 1:30 p.m. Arrangements Ireland (illegible) and Co. Chapel Street, Lancaster. Tel. (illegible)."

 

Rhoda Louise Swarbrick married John L. Carr in 1944 and at some point relocated to Dorset.

Rhoda died in June 1999, aged 76 years. Further information is withheld out of respect for Mr Carr's privacy.

 

Henry Swarbrick married and has children. Further information is withheld out of respect for his privacy.

 

Constance Swarbrick married David John Davies at Sefton Road Congregational Church in Morecambe in 1945. She had joined the WRENS during World War II and met her future husband at a dance while on leave back home in Morecambe. David was an officer in the Royal Australian Air Force and took his new bride back to Australia, where they settled in Tasmania and raised two children, Anne and Stephen.

Connie died in New South Wales, on 7 December 1997, aged 72 yrs.

"DAVIES - (nee Swarbrick) On December 7th in a nursing home near Wallagong, New South Wales, Australia, CONNIE, Aged 72 years. The wife of David Davies (deceased) and mother of Anne and Stephen. Also loving sister of Rhoda, Harry and Tom (deceased)."
OBITUARY:

War bride who became an Aussie - A MORECAMBE woman who became a war bride and emigrated to Australia, Connie Davies, has died in New South Wales. She was 72.

Connie, formerly Connie Swarbrick, was a member of a well-known family in the West End of Morecambe, having been born at 7 Marlborough Road.

She attended Sandylands Primary School and Balmoral Road Secondary School (now Heysham High) and also the Sunday School at Sefton Road Congregational Church.

Connie joined the WRENS during World War II. It was while on leave back home in Morecambe, and dancing at the Floral Hall, that she met her future husband, David Davies, a Royal Australian Air Force officer. David was also on leave from his base in Lincolnshire.
They were married by the Rev J Howard Davies at Sefton Road Church in 1945. A year later Connie sailed from Tilbury to begin a new life in Australia.

Part of the journey to her eventual home was by pony and trap, having been met by husband David - who has since died - and father-in-law on arrival in Australia.

Connie is survived by her son, Stephen, a professor and university lecturer, who lives in New Zealand, and her daughter Anne and grandchildren who live in Hobart, Tasmania.
