BURIAL RECORDS:
 
Alice Atkinson, age 50, of 33 Holstein Street, wife of Joseph, was buried on 19 August 1933 in a private grave in the Catholic Section, E-114, at Preston Cemetery. Hers was the fifth burial, number 60301.
 
Joseph Herbert Vaughn Atkinson, age 57, of 62 Brackenbury Street, was buried on 28 Jan 1942 in a private grave in the Catholic Section, E-114, at Preston Cemetery. His was the sixth and final burial, number 65193.

 

NOTES:
1: Joseph and Alice are buried in an unmarked grave at Preston Cemetery along with two members of the Atkinson family and Alice's parents George and Ellen Swarbrick.
2: According to the burial register, Joseph died at St Joseph's Hospital, which was located on Mount Street in Preston. It closed many years ago and the future of the beautiful old building is uncertain.
3: The above information is taken from microfilmed copies of the Preston Cemetery burial registers held at the Lancashire Archives, and from copies of Preston newspapers held at the Harris Reference Library.
