| They settled in the village of Middleforth, in the Parish of Penwortham, where Ellen's parent's were already living and where
Elise was to live for the rest of her life. Elsie was amongst the very first class at St. Mary Magdalen's Primary School when it opened in 1915, and it was the only school she ever attended. She was a life-long member of the congregation at the adjacent St Mary Magdalen's Catholic Church and attended services regularly - until she was too frail to make the short walk. From then on a volunteer from the church visited her in her home on Sundays to bring her Communion. On the day of her funeral, she entered the church for the last time - after 90 years of faithful worship there. |
