who died February 8th 1898, aged 69 years.
And of Ellen Swarbrick, wife of the above
who died Nov. 4th 1909, aged 76 years.'

DEATH NOTICES:
"On Monday last, Margaret Alice, infant daughter of Mr. William Swarbrick, Fishergate, aged 3 months"

"Swarbrick - At the school house, Lea, on the 4th inst., Ellen, relict of the late William Swarbrick, aged 76 years. R.I.P."

BURIAL RECORDS:
Ellen Francis Swarbrick, daughter William and Alice Swarbrick of Fishergate, Preston, died at the age of 4 weeks. She was buried on 6 August 1853 in the churchyard at St. Ignatius' church in Preston. The officiating priest was Richard Corr. Burial No. 3903.
Margaret Alice Swarbrick, twin sister of the above Ellen Francis, died at the age of 3 months, and was buried in the same churchyard by Richard Cooper on 6 October 1853. Burial No. 3962.
Alice Swarbrick, nee' Morton died at Street, Claughton-on-Brock, of Consumption. She was buried on 2 January 1865 in an unmarked common grave in the churchyard of Saints Mary & Michael's Catholic Church, Bonds, Garstang, Lancashire. [Grave: N2, plot W, No. 12]
William Swarbrick and his second wife Ellen were buried in the tiny churchyard cemetery at St. Mary's Catholic Chapel in Lea, near Preston. The church is across the road from and associated with St. Mary's Catholic school, where their daughter Elizabeth was a teacher.

 

NOTES:
1: The burial register from St. Ignatius' Church lists Ellen Francis as Elizabeth Swarbrick in error.
2: Oakley's Directory of Preston, 1853: "William Swarbrick, Corn Dealer, 82 Fishergate".
3: Alice Swarbrick was staying with her mother and step-father during the illness that eventually killed her.
4: William Swarbrick's death was the subject of two newspaper reports.
