NOTES:
1: On Alice's death certificate she is listed as having died at Street, Claughton-on-Brock, of Consumption, 6 months, not certified; the wife of William Swarbrick, corn dealer. The informant was her step-father Thomas Charnock, of Street, Claughton-on-Brock, who was present at her death.
2: Alice was apparently staying with her mother and step-father during the illness that eventually killed her. She was buried on 2 January 1865 in an unmarked common grave in the churchyard of SS Mary & Michael's Roman Catholic Church, Bonds, Garstang, Lancashire. [Grave: N2, plot W, No. 12]

1: At the time of their marriage both William and Ellen were living at Spurgeon Street in Everton, Liverpool. It seems that they had known each other for many years and it is possible that William's father George and Ellen's father Nicholas were business associates.
