Regiment, Corporal, 25409 Victory Medal British Medal Extract from the London Gazette of 23rd July 1919 'His Majesty the KING has been graciously pleased to approve of the award of the Military Medal for bravery in the field to the under mentioned Warrant Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers and Men: — LOYAL NORTH LANCASHIRE REGIMENT 25409 Pte [A/Cpl] Swarbrick W., 1st Battalion [Preston]' William Swarbrick was born in 1884 in Preston the second of four children born to John and Mary [Houghton] Swarbrick. He had married Margery Hargreaves at St Mary's Church, Preston on the 9th October 1909. In 1911 he was living with his wife and son William at 3, Roman Road, Preston and working as a clerk to a coach builder. The couple had a second son, John, born in 1912. William is thought to have died in 1950 in Preston. |
