NOTES: | |
 | At the time of their marriage Robert was living on Victoria Street and Margaret was living on Friargate, both in Preston. |
 | Robert , Margaret, and Margaret's sister Elizabeth signed the marriage certificate with their mark. |
 | Margaret Swarbrick died of cholera during an epidemic of the disease that swept the country. Liverpool was hit hard by the disease and the death toll was quite high. Martha Swarbrick, wife of Robert's elder brother William, died of cholera only 6 weeks earlier. |
 | The original register from St. John's Church lists Robert's father as "...the late William Swarbrick, miller...", but this was an obvious error as William did not die until 1846. I can only assume that what was actually meant was late (i.e. former) miller. |
 | The above information is taken from the original church registers held at the Lancashire Archives. |
