THE FAMILY OF ROBERT WEIGHTS
INFORMATION FROM WILLS:
|The Will of Robert Weights:|
|This is the Last Will and Testament of Robert Weights, of no. 64 Waterloo Road, Preston in the county of Lancaster, Manager of a gold thread works.
1) I revoke all former Wills
2) I appoint James Heald of no. 21 Kimberly Road, Preston aforesaid, Solicitor's Clerk and Thomas Clifton Threlfall of no. 121 Oxford Street, Preston aforesaid, Commercial Traveler (hereinafter called my trustees) my Executors and Trustees.
3) I give ten pounds to each of my trustees if he shall prove my Will and out of the hands thereof.
4) I give my gold watch and gold chain and the appendages thereto (a spade ace guinea) to my son Robert.
5) I give all my furniture and other household effects to my daughter Elizabeth Baker.
6) All legacies shall be paid free of duty.
I devise and bequeath all my real estate and all my personal estate not hereby otherwise disposed of unto my trustees to sell the same and out of the proceeds pay my funeral and testamentary expenses, legacies, duties thereon and debts, and to hold the residue (hereinafter called my residuary trust fund) in trust to divide the same equally amongst my following six children, namely (1) William Weights (2) the said Elizabeth Baker (3) Richard Morton Weights (4) Robert Weights (5) Albert Weights and (6) John James Weights provided always that if any of my said six children shall die in my lifetime leaving a child or children who shall survive me and attain the age of 21 years then and in every such case the last mentioned or children shall take (and if more than one equally between them) the share which his her or their parent would have taken if such parent had survived me.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this thirtieth day of September one thousand nine hundred and twenty (signed) Robert Weights
Signed by the said Robert Weights in the joint presence of us who in his presence and that of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses (signed) William Bramwell, Solicitor, Preston, James Holderness, his Clerk.
|A Codicil to the Will of Robert Weights:|
|This is a codicil to the above written Will of Robert Weights. I give to my said daughter Elizabeth Baker one hundred pounds in addition to the benefits given to her by my
said Will. In all other respects I ratify and confirm my said Will.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this twenty seventh day of March one thousand nine hundred and twenty six (signed) Robert Weights
Signed by the said Robert Weights in the joint presence of us who in his presence and that of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses (signed) William Bramwell, H. C. Bramwell of 16 Watling-street Road (spinster).
On the 4th June 1927 Probate of this Will and Codicil was granted at Lancaster to the Executors.
