THE FAMILY OF ELIZABETH PEARSON

 

Elizabeth Pearson was baptized on 23 August 1850 at St John's Parish Church in Preston, the daughter of William Pearson and Elizabeth Whittle. At the time of her birth, her father was a beer seller and the family lived on Marsh Lane. Her parents had been married at St Leonard the Less Parish Church in Samlesbury, Lancashire on 18 May 1835 and made their home in Preston.

William Pearson worked for many years as a beer seller but by 1861 had become a furniture broker:

2: Their eldest son John was about 20 and had probably left home by 1861.

 

William Pearson died on 16 November 1865, aged 50 years. In his Will, proved in Preston in 1866, he made provisions for his wife and four children.

After his death, William's wife carried on the business as a furniture broker until her death in 1888, aged 71 years.
